Columbus 2009

We had a fun time in Columbus for the 2009 MCUSA convention. It wasn't a vacation per se because I was getting ready to speak part of the week and...well...with two little ones it's never a vacation. But it was a change of scenery and it was fun to be together as a family and to see old friends and just experience convention.

Proof that the kids were here. Both have 100% attendance at conventions for their lives so far. Pittsburgh 2011 here we come!

Speaking at convention with mom was a lot of fun. The only bad thing about it was being pretty badly misquoted in the July 21 issue of The Mennonite. They say several times that we said, "The Spirit cannot do its help without our help." What does that even mean? Who would say that? It's not even a proper English sentence is it? What we said was, "The Spirit cannot do its WORK without our help." Good grief. All that work and people who weren't there but read The Mennonite think we are total idiots who say crazy things that don't make any sense. Oh well. Such is life. Who knows. Maybe those who were there think we didn't make any sense. Well, misquotes aside, it was a great experience working with Mom again.

Thanks so much for posting this-- I've been wanting to ask you how your message went at convention. Great photos, and sounds like it all went well (not that I'm one bit surprised!).
